How do I cite the Bible?

Requirements for citing the Bible are different for each style. See examples below:

 

In APA, no reference entry is needed, only an in-text citation with (Book chapter:verse, Version):

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2, English Standard Version).

 

In MLA, both an in-text and works cited entry are required:

Ezekiel saw "what seemed to be four living creatures," each with faces of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle (New Jerusalem Bible, Ezek. 1.5-10).
