What is the Archives & Special Collections department?

Archives & Special Collections is a department within Chambers Library dedicated to collecting, preserving, and making accessible for research, primary and secondary source materials that document the history of the University, Edmond and other Oklahoma communities. These resources are available for use by students, faculty, and scholars.

"Archives" refers to the University Archives, the depository for all academic and administrative documents, official records and other materials related to the management, operations and mission of the University of Central Oklahoma.

"Special Collections" consists of collections that represent selected and donated material focusing on the history and culture of the American West, with emphasis on Oklahoma, the Southwest, North American Indians, Oklahoma Pioneers, business and industry, literature, government agencies, churches, professional and social organizations, and other items of significant research value.
